UK government Voluntary Assisted Returns and Reintegration Programme (VARRP). WELDO assisted hundreds of returnees coming back to Pakistan — one of the first projects to provide both long-term and short-term reintegration for voluntary returnees.

Enable, Assist, Sensitize and Trail

Economic reintegration for forced and voluntary returnees from the UK. As a parallel programme to other returns work, EAST helped increase voluntary returns from the UK to Pakistan. Prior to implementation, WELDO carried out a detailed labour market survey of Pakistan and Middle Eastern countries.

RESPECT

Short-term reintegration for returnees arriving on chartered flights. WELDO received over 70 chartered flights under the project, providing immediate arrival support when returnees need it most.

OPTIONS — UK

Return counselling by WELDO — a country-of-origin organisation — at UK immigration reporting and removal centres. Cultural and linguistic familiarity helped potential returnees engage more openly. The project increased returns from the UK to Pakistan by 300%, and included audio-visual information materials and diaspora outreach. WELDO is establishing outreach to Pakistani and Afghan diaspora communities across Europe, the United States and Canada.

European Reintegration Instrument

Return and reintegration of Pakistani-origin returnees from partner European states — combining immediate on-arrival assistance with long-term support.

• Immediate: meet & greet, overnight accommodation, in-country travel, medical assistance
• Long-term: housing, education enrolment, business start-up, TVET, network referrals, regular follow-ups

Information for returnees and detainees on on-arrival assistance and reintegration options in Pakistan — covering transit and arrival expectations, step-by-step airport services, NICs and birth certificates, legal, health and social services, housing and education, small business advice, recruitment agencies and TVET facilities.

European Reintegration Instrument Network

Sustainable return and reintegration for voluntary and non-voluntary returnees in cooperation with ERIN partner European host countries.

AMIF-funded programme implemented with partner countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and others. Post-arrival reintegration for voluntary and non-voluntary returnees, including rejected asylum seekers and vulnerable people.

Joint Reintegration Services (JRS) — Frontex

Multinational long- and short-term reintegration for voluntary and non-voluntary returnees, led by Frontex across Europe and several countries of origin. WELDO is the implementing partner in Pakistan.

ERIN Slow Track

When another organisation shut down mid-project, WELDO took over reintegration for returnees who would otherwise have been left without support — delivering the same suite of airport-to-livelihood services as AVRP.
